Winter Wine Tasting | The Living Vine
A couple of weeks back we teamed up with our friends at The Living Vine for our second Natural Wine tasting in our Queen West flagship store. Our commitment at 18 Waits to quality crafted, local manufacturing with an emphasis on quality materials, fabrication is a perfect fit for The Living Vine's own ethos.
We work with wineries fighting against standardization; farmers who care about the longevity of the vine and the environment; and, people who are passionate about creating wines that express their place of origin. These are wines that are full of life; the wines we drink, love and want to share.
Danielle from The Living Vine has a real knack for interpreting our collection inspiration and connecting it with high quality Biodynamic, Organic and Naturally made wines from their portfolio. We spent the evening exploring her selections.
For our Autumn/Winter collection - The Lonely Poet - we were inspired by the many authors who famously retreated to cabins in the woods to chase inspiration. Hemingway, Mark Twain, and Oscar Wilde were known for using small, secluded sheds in their search of creative fuel. A place to think deeply and ruminate without distraction during the blustery autumn and winter months. Where an austere mountain cabin in the rockies might give way to a flurry of inspiration and a lakeside cottage could unleash a rush of words.
We kept this imagery in mind when choosing the warm, textured fabrics for our autumn/winter collection - soft flannels, rich wools, hearty waxed cottons and chunky knits - all made from only the finest quality fabrics.
In keeping with this theme for the tasting, we explored natural wines with producers who are pushing boundaries and changing the landscape in wine, as Hemingway, Mark Twain and Oscar Wilde did for language and literature. These wines showed incredible texture and would surely keep any poet warm on a lonely night.
