A Dose of Capsule: 18 Waits

We recently showed our SS11 collection at Capsule in NYC and Vegas. Great shows. We're really excited about this collection. Here's an interview we did with We Are The Market. 18 Waits claims to cater to those who pursue a timeless lifestyle that appreciates everything this world has to offer, from “an old pair of leather boots” to “a child’s painting”. If you adhere to any form of this wholesome lifestyle, be sure to check out 18 Waits’ range of designs, which includes menswear, womenswear, and jewelry. And be sure to keep reading for a glimpse into the 18 Waits creative process, which William McCullough illustrates below. Whats the inspiration behind the SS11 collection? What are some concepts, movements, era, people, music etc that have impacted the design of the collection and why? We were swayed by the notion of cowboys & Indians, sun-faded landscapes, junk yards, 1970′s rock n’ roll and the artwork of Frederic Remington, amongst others. What do you expect will be some key items in the collection? We’re really excited about this collection. Winter can be a grind so now is the time to keep it simple and loose. Both our long- and short-sleeve Henley’s are constructed in lightweight slub cotton and have some really nice details, including a ‘torqued’ body-style that we feel make them standouts. Our new military shirt is based on a vintage piece Dan found years ago; we’ve updated the design & fit used some amazing new fabrics we sourced from a Japanese mill. I’m staring at a box of our billy caps (newsboys) that just arrived from our supplier — ultra-soft Japanese cotton, leather sweatband, custom lining — they turned out really well. We’ll be introducing chinos to the collection and we think people will love the fabric, a cornhusk-washed cotton that could not be softer. And as always, we’ll be adding to our ever-growing jewelry collection. Think dog tags and tomahawks. What palette are you working with? as well as key fabrications… Red, white and blue. Cottons: lots of variations and a variety of washes. Straw. Do you have any other news you’d like to share? Dan just got engaged on a trip to Big Sur so obviously he and his gal are super-excited and congrats to them both. I’ll be celebrating a birthday of some note. Oh yeah, we recently re-launched our website and online store. It looks great and we’re excited to finally have this underway www.18waits.com. What are your plans for the summer? Looking forward to a great summer. Festival season. So lots of music in our future. Getting out in the nature and spending time with friends & family. And, of course, the Capsule shows in NYC and Vegas. We’re wishing everyone all the best and look forward to meeting friends old & new. We Are The MarketWe Are The Market
