Black Lives Matter | BIPOC Owned Businesses in Toronto

Like many businesses around Toronto, Canada and globally, we've taken this week for introspection. We’re listening. We’re learning, we’re reading and we’re having hard conversations.

Today on our blog, we'd like to highlight BIPOC owned businesses in Toronto. As a small business ourselves, we are intimately familiar with the challenges that entrepreneurs face in launching and maintaining an independent business in this city. What we don't know is what it's like to face all of these challenges within the context of our racist system. Spending money at BIPOC owned businesses is one small concrete step that we can take to support our fellow Torontonians.

Additionally, 18 Waits is committed to donating 10% of our June sales to be split between the Unist'et'en Legal Fund and Black Lives Matter Toronto.

We acknowledge that this is just a starting point. It's up to all of us, including 18 Waits, to find opportunities in our own lives and businesses to address racial injustice. This week, next week and the weeks after that, in perpetuity.

Here are several lists of businesses that we found. If you have other suggestions, please contact us at info@18waits.com.
